We keep the content accurate and current. Building regulations, permit requirements and city rules change, and anything on this site describing them reflects our understanding at the time of writing. Do not treat it as a substitute for checking the current requirement with the relevant authority or with your architect.

Quotes and scope of work

Nothing on this website is a quote or a fixed price.

Any figure given over the phone before we have seen a site is an indication based on what you have described, and it is not binding on either of us. A firm price follows a site visit.

Where we go ahead, the scope of work is agreed in writing before the work starts, and it sets out what is being removed, what is being left, and what is included. If something is found during the work that could not reasonably have been identified at the survey, an unrecorded utility line, a second slab beneath the first, a wall that proves to be structural, we will tell you as soon as we find it and agree any change with you before continuing.

Permits and filings

Where work requires a permit, filings in New York City are made by a registered design professional. That work sits with your architect or expediter. We do not file applications on a client's behalf and nothing on this site should be read as an offer to.
